Provenance:

acquisition date unknown; possibly Moffett Collection; see p. 462. Orion Clemens wrote on the verso of the leaf, ‘Sam’s order for $150’. Since there is no mark on this document indicating that it was negotiated, it is possible that Orion did not deliver it for payment, and that therefore it remained in the family’s possession. There is, however, no reason to suppose that Orion did not collect the money.
