Sutro lived in San Francisco at 908 Jackson Street, but Clemens may have mailed this letter to the Sutro Tunnel Company, at 625 Montgomery Street, requesting on the envelope that it be forwarded. Sutro evidently received it in Nevada, where he remained until 15 August. His response reached Clemens on 19 August (19 Aug 71, 24 Aug 71, both to Sutroclick to open link; Langley 1871, 624; Adolph Sutro, 34).
