Explanatory Notes
1 The contract for Colonel Sellers between Clemens and John T. Raymond. The two men had been discussing terms for several months (27 Oct 1876 to Raymond, n. 1, and 11 Dec 1876 to Perkins). The “alteration” has not been explained.
