Dear Dan—

Am very sorry for the misfortune—but rush up the brick shop & go ahead.

I had made up my mind to put all K business on you; but in this one instance I’ll make a remark: to wit, Chicago is a mighty important place, & we must look sharp & not give it away. Therefore I suggest a price of not under $10,000—that, or a 10 per cent royalty. , either. And I would let this

That is only a suggestion; give it such weight as you choose. Ignore it, if you want to. Make your own trade with Chicago, & if thaere’s any reason in it I’ll ratify it.

But don’t submit picayune trades to me, like Crump’s & those Southern States—don’t ask me for advice in those d—d $2000-cases. emendationor cases like that New Orleans one. Just make the trades yourself, Dan——I started in to be a Figure-Head President & that’s what I am.
