dear charlie:—

when i got to boston the pictures had been sent to hartford, so i did not see them until i got back. i listened to what they had to say, and examined the pictures when i got home. to my mind yours were better than the moss, but as the artist did not feel so, i gave orders to have the rest done by the moss company. an additional reason for this was, that they said you charged double what moss charged. the matter was not worth bothering about any way, so i shut it off and pleased the artist and got it off my mind.

osgoodemendation wants to buy a shop-right out right for boston or take it on a royalty. you can see osgood sometime or other and talk with him if you prefer.

the bank note stock arrived safely.

i received a similar letter from buckland, but told him you were the person in authority and he must apply to you.

yours truly,
s. l. clemens.
