2 March 1883 • New York, N.Y. (MS: CU-MARK, UCCL 02353)
Livy darling, I haven’t found out, yet, whether I shall stop over Sunday or not. On Monday Vignaux, the greatest billiard man that ever lived, will give an exhibition (private) before journalists & invited guests, & of course I am perishing to see it. It will be an event memorable for a lifetime. I’ll write you again, or telegraph.
We dined at Union league, played billiards 2 hours, got to bed at 10, slept 8 solid hours without stimulants, & got up as fine as a fiddle this morning.
