I promised, the other day, that I would not try to get anybody but Cable; & that if he declined to hitch teams with me I would retire once more into my hole & keep away from the platform. So don’t throw out any feelers toward Riley or make any propositions to him. Inemendation the circumstances, you see, it wouldn’t be worth while.
