My Dear Pond—

All right, shall expect you & Geo. W. at my house Wednesday, & we’ll go down to New Haven. OVERemendation

inserted on the verso:

I read Wednesday in your note, but at a second glance it looks more like Monday. Maybe that is what you meant.—with the conference in your mind. The conference not being a necessity, you & Geo W may not come here—in which case, tell me what hotel I am to go to in New Haven, & I will arrive there on time.

S L C

Please send me a duly plushed plaque. I want it for Mrs Chas Dudley Warner, who thinks it’s a fine thing.

Ys
Mark.

The conference isn’t a necessity.
