Dear Charley—

Proof received. That is the idea. “K’d” is a very good abbreviation. So is “Bat.” Keepemendation that up. Use any intelligible abbreviation.

Now go & on & put the whole thing in type; and mind, don’t send me first-proof; & don’t send me first revise, either. Send me s the second-revise, after two first-proof & revise have been carefully read & carefully corrected. Save me what profanity you can. Orion’s MS is infernal.

When you send me said second-revise, send me the manuscript to compare it with.
