To Edgar W. Howe
28 March 1884 • Hartford, Conn. (MS, in pencil: CU-MARK, UCCL 02941)
My Dear Mr. Howe:

“Care of the Century, Union Square, New York” will fetch half of them; “Care of the Atlantic, 4 Park street Boston,” will fetch the other half. The only individual addresses I can call to mind at this moment, are these 2 or 3:

Howells, 4 Louisburg Square Boston of course

T. B. Aldrich, 59 Mount Vernon st.

Cable, 229- 8th st. New Orleans.

Uncle Remus, Atlanta, Ga.

Col. Geo. E. Waring, Newport, R.I.

Col. T. W. Higginson, ditto.

Col. John Hay, Cleveland, O.

Hang it, the names don’t occur to me.

Willie Winter, N. Y. Tribune;

E. C. Stedman (care Century.) &c &c

I am very much obliged for the photograph, which I greatly prize—& I retort with mine.

Truly Yours friend & well-wisher
S L Clemens
