My Dear Charles:

We watch the Courant closely for news of Dr. Taft; but as it has not said anything about him, we have taken this no-news for good news. Are we right? Drop me a line, please, & tell me how he is. We are of course anxious & full of solicitude, but we cannot add anything to the burdens of Mrs. Taft & Laura by asking them for news; so it occurs to me to beg you for a line.

And won’t you please give to the Taft household Mrs. Clemens’ & my love & earnest good wishes?

Truly Yours
S L Clemens
