My Dear Mr. Iles:

Alas, it’s no use—all our efforts have failed, & we can’t get to Montreal this year. We can’t manage to arrange our route so as to fetch us there. The halls & theatres in the several towns are already ready engaged for the dates which we want & which we should be obliged to have, to in order to enable us to make the trip. So I’ve got to do without that Snow-shoe uniform this time—all thanks to you, just the same, for proposing it. I am deeply disappointed; but I hope the rest of you, & all Canada, will have a good time—as without question you will.

In haste,

Truly Yours,
S L Clemens
