P. S. While I think of it, dear heart, make me not one single engagement outside the house, while I am at home. I will see particular friends—say at dinner at our house—at on any day; but I am not expecting to step outside the house to call on any friend or enemy or meet any engagement of any sort while I am at home. I shall work & study all day long, (& every day,) in the billiard room, & spend my evenings with the fambly down stairs,—& doubtless early to bed, tired. I am by no means satisfied with my program for second nights; & when I leave home again I shall be letter-perfect in a new one—possibly two of them. You have selected well for me—I have your selections yet, & shall go to work on them the minute I get home; one or two of them; & we will also make another hunt through the books, won’t we? I love you, dear heart.
