To his publisher, Frank Bliss, asking him to “Please send a cloth ‘Tramp’ to H. L. Joachimsen, 418 California Street. . . & charge to yrs. S. L. Clemens.” With a small ink checkmark at the upper right (through the date) and evidence of erased pencillings in the text apparently indicating that this request had been noted and granted. Annotated as well on the verso in ink in the recipient’s[?] hand: “S. L. Clemens April 8th 81.”
