With our love,
By this date Orion and Mollie Clemens evidently had given up their Keokuk chicken ranch and were now living in the town itself, where Orion attempted to establish a law practice ( L6 : 25 Apr 1875 to JLC and PAM n. 8; 26 July 1875 to OC, 519–20). He had proposed this latest change of occupation in January (CU-MARK):
Clemens was still sending Orion $42 a month in the spring of 1877 (14 May 1877 to OC, n. 1).
For photographs that Clemens might have enclosed, see 22 Apr 1876 to White, n. 1.

Paine or his typist also recorded “Letter from S. L. C. Recd April 28.76.” Although the information was probably taken from the postmark of an untranscribed envelope, it is possible that at least part of it represents a docket.
